Madekwe was raised in a mixed ethnic family. Her father is Nigerian-Swiss and her mother is English. Her family was raised in a south London council estate, and at the age of 14, attended The Brit School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. While at the academy, she performed in several performances on stage, such as The King Henry V playing Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe first began her career as an actress through the film Storm Damage. In the years since, she's been a guest star in Teachers, Doctors, Casualty as well as Drop Dead Gorgeous. Her first role in a film was in Woody Allen's 2007 Cassandra's Dream opposite Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor. In the following film, she played Elisha, an episode of the BBC Three pilot drama, in West 10 LDN. In the same time, she starred as Ollie for six episodes of Trexx, Flipside, and Flipside. Also, the ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl was her first appearance in 2008 as Bambi. Madekwe made an appearance in the 2008 comedy feature film How to Lose Friends & Alienate People. Her theatre credits are Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams and Flight Path by David Watson.
Madekwe was cast as Ashley Davenport on ABC's show The Beautiful Life. The two-episode show aired only for 2 weeks at The CW and then it was cancelled. In February, she was cast 2011, as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. Madekwe was a regular in the drama series of Revenge on ABC in two episodes. In May 2013 that she was set to quit the show after completing one guest appearance on the very first season of the third. In 2014 and 2016, she starred as Tituba on the show Salem. Madekwe got married to her actor boyfriend Iddo goldberg on June 2012. Apart from Secret Diary of a Call Girl They have also collaborated in tandem on Salem and Iddo Goldberg had a part alongside her in the show on TV.

Ashley Leggat, a twice Gemini nominated actress was raised in a large family living in Hamilton, Ontario. Her family included her parents Roy and Patty along with four brothers who were older than them: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. Ashley's brothers were athletic and were avid baseball players during the summer months as well as hockey in winter. Ashley never actually walked -she danced, so at age just two years old, she started Baby Ballet -and she fell in love. Ashley fell in love with dance when she was just a few years old. Ashley was a dancer who competed throughout the various categories until the time she graduated from high school. She was a competitor in ballet, jazz, tap, pointe and the acrobatics. The top soloist at big competitions, such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance which were all given to Ashley.
