Niykee is a songwriter who, despite her recent busy schedule, has managed to maintain her routine. Some of her personal highlights included her being picked by Snoop dogg to become his sidekick during the YouTube Brandcast event in May 2013. She is now a magnet for aspiring producers, she regularly combs through beats that are sent to her and discovers that a lot of them are able to spark song ideas. She says that she can tell if the beat is a good one in less than five seconds. And then, a brand new song will pop into her brain. My guitar is set up on the back of my porch and I'll let my thoughts flow. The process usually takes about 30 minutes. Niykee has found that her pain in the past provides endless sources of ideas. "Even even if I'm not writing about my personal life, the sadness of losing my sister as well as my difficult childhood are incorporated into my songs," she says. This shapes my music and adds a greater sense of meaning that I believe is crucial. I'd like to be able to listen to my music in the next 20 years and feel proud of my words.
